Joan is a young Norman lady who appeared in the story Two Faces of Love in Winter 1191. She was originally betrothed to Sir Guy but fell in love with one of his sergeants, Dwain. Her family sent her off to a convent (St. Agnes', near Glastonbury) in disgrace, but she was later rescued by Godwyn and Thomas the Poacher and reunited with her lover. The last either of them were seen, she was traveling with Dwain to his native land.

Joan's father is the Lord of Wells, who rewarded Thomas in the story, The Horror of Wookey Hole.
