Our Robert, or Robert of Stranggore (as he is known to outsiders), is a peasant, the reeve of the hamlet of Blackbury. He was raised among the covenfolk of Stranggore.
Our Robert was born around 1153, which makes him forty-one years old when the grogs of Stranggore first encountered him. He had left Stranggore twenty years before.
Robert makes his living as a farmer. He is a heavyset man. He seems to be a sober, reliable fellow, more level-headed in the face of danger or the supernatural than would be the typical peasant. He is blessed with a green thumb and is said to be a descendant of Merewen.
