In the Summer of 1193 Sandre was a guest of Stranggore. The magi asked him to deal with some mercenaries who were stirring up trouble and who were suspected of having some sort of magic backing. Sandre took Ugly Bill, Torkel, and Junior with him to see what could be done.

The group found the mercenaries in a nearby town, and initiated a discussion with them about paying up their bills with the townsfolk. The mercenaries did so, but refused to give any details about what they were doing or their "master". The mercenaries did seem to know a surprising amount about the order, and Junior's knowledge of accents was able to place the men as being from around the covenant "The Crimson Brotherhood". Sandre challenged their master to Certamen, and defeated him, although barely. Information gathered from two mercenaries captured by the rest of the group gave Sandre an edge, as he was wise enoguh to veto the strangers decision to use Imaginem in the duel. As per the terms of the duel, Magus Davon was forced to leave the region for a period of one year, and told Sandre that he had been searching for the Eye of Andrion.

Sandre found a woman capable of dowsing, and found the Eye. In addition, while waiting for the duel, Sandre found a pawn of Perdo Vis near Hangman's Tree.
