The ghost of Charles is one of several ghosts who haunts the covenant of Stranggore.
Charles was a former autocrat of Stranggore. Brian the Mad imagines that Charles is his assistant, but Charles' ghost thinks the situation is the other way around.
Charles died in the late eleventh century, around the time the covenant went into its Winter decline.
