What he does?
Simon struggles with his place within society as a wizard and a scholar. He seeks to do right by his guardian angel while hiding his faith as a devout Muslim. He wants acceptance by his family and is a prolific letter writer with many and varied contacts.
Why he does it?
He love astronomy. He loves God. He loves people. He wishes to do right and honor the gift God has given him. He wants to find new things and new ideas.
What made him do it?
As a member of House Baux, Simon did not fit in at court and was raised by his tutor. The Gift is more common in his noble family and once his magical talent manifested he was sent a covenant in Valencia. There he learned Arabic and was awaken to Islam. Under his pater he discovered his love for astronomy and practiced magic diligently. His Gauntlet, a viva voce, was to defend his tractatus on astronomy.
What do people think of him?
He is known as the scholarly cousin of the Duke of Baux who keeps a wide range of correspondences and who knows some strange things. It is rumored he is a wizard.

He prays five times a day at sunrise, midday, afternoon, sunset, and night.
