Travelling from place to place varies based on various conditions such as the road, the weather, and the well-being of the travellers.  Generally one can walk about 3 miles per hour on a good road in good weather while unencumbered and uninjured; England rarely has good roads or good weather so most travel is 2 miles per hour.  One can hurry but that causes long-term fatigue.  The season also affect the amount of daylight one has which in turn affects how far one can go without added risk.
