The Bishop of Wells presides over the diocese that includes the villages of Barstow and Shepton Mallet, so, presumably, the Covenant of Stranggore as well.

The Bishop's name is Walter DuMont. (This is a fictional character.) He was born in the mid-1140's, so he was about 50 years old when the magi first met him. He is a small, thin man, but very affable and fond of knowledge and educated company. He is more favorable to magi than most clergy, though some of his assistants fail to share that attitude.

Stories

In Twisted Web, Caballus and Sandre again visit the Bishop. They discuss the need to track down the lair of a dead diabolist, and to determine if there were others nearby. The bishop offered to send an exorcist to the lair if found, and he made good on his word. He also professed knowledge that Magi of the Order live long lives, and hinted at an interest in the knowledge of how that could be achieved.

In Trouble on the Doorstep, His Eminence graciously granted an audience to the two magi, Sandre and Caballus. He was obviously pleased to see two magi in person; he said he had heard legends of a council of wizards protecting the land but thought they had all died out. The Bishop was helpful to the magi and so tickled to receive a visit from two wizards that he didn't even seem much bothered by their Gift.
