The largest town in Saxon Wessex, rich in resources both natural and magical, Winchester was a natural choice for a new home when the Order of Hermes forced the Wizard's Council of Stranggore to abandon their ancestral home among the Halls of the Stranggore. The Castle was home to the Covenant from 817 until the coming of William the Conqueror, when the new king made it known that he desired the castle at which point the Covenant moved again to it's current location outside of Wells.
Winchester has become a site of religious importance with Winchester Cathedral, Hyde Abbey, and Nunnaminster nunnery.
