Picnics and Giant Infernal Tarantulas
In the spring of 1207 Sandre took Marie and Matilda to meet Marie's parents. Sandre was reluctant, but Marie was insistent on visiting both sides of the family, and Argus secretly asked Sandre to look into some attacks on villages in the area.
The visit to Marie's family was uneventful, but Sandre on occasion got caught up in conversations which he did not want to participate in so he would silent-still-cast Call to Slumber to put to sleep whoever he was talking to.
From there the family, along with William Robert, Bill, and Rhyss went to visit Sandres family. The visit was also uneventful, although Sandre's father was strangely absent for most of the time. Sandre's brother [Name?], who has taken the vows, spent some time with him and brought up the issue of the attacks on the village mentioned by Argus.
One day shortly after arriving, Sandre, his family, and his entourage took Marie out hawking. After having one of his fathers knights distract her, Sandre, William, Bill and Rhyss went to investigate the attacks.
Some shepherds lead Rhys to a dead sheep, which was black and bloated, and told Rhyss that one of their daughters was missing. After casting some spells, Sandre determined that the girl was alive and hiding in a fallen tree. He also learned that the attack was done by one of several large, poisonous spiders. He cast a spell giving Rhyss a dogs nose, to help track the spiders through the forest. He also cast a spell protecting each member of the group from magical animals-at least weak ones. The spell turned out to be effective against the spiders, who while dangerous to most were unable to penetrate the protections Sandre had cast.
The group drove back the spiders, rescued the daughter of the farmer, and departed again. Sandre performed some spell casting on the dead spiders and determined that they were infernal in nature.
Upon returning to the covenant, Argus sent Sandre to recuit the magi of Cercle Cassée to help finish off the spiders in the forest. Word has seemingly gotten around the tribunal about the spiders.
