Daniel the Swordsman is an illustrious former shield grog of Stranggore, who disappeared and presumably died c. 1150 with the magus Caradoc.
Daniel's grandson, Eustace, seeks to emulate Daniel's example -- which has become exaggerated in Eustace's mind.
