Duke Hesmesh is a magical being with powers that are commonly associated with Imaginem and Rego, but also may have some abilities similar to Intellgo and Corpus. He resides on a hilltop near Starfield, and likes company. He sometimes will give his blessing to a child if it is conceived on his hill. Paul was one such child, and got his ability to shapechange from Hesmesh. George and Valera's child, Stella was conceived on the hill, but no magical abilities have shown up yet.
