During a season of research on the Eye of Andrion, Sandre and Agnes witnessed a ghostly figure through the Eye. The figure was one Agnes recognized to be Maga Astia, who was declared at the tribunal of 1994 to be in Final Twilight. The maga drew a skull on Sandre's tablet, which could only be seen through the Eye. She then slowly faded away.
Sandre believes this to be a message from the Maga that she is dead, and it implies to him that she may not have gone into Final Twilight, but instead died in some other manner.
