Winnifrid is an aged folk witch from the covenant of Elder Grove. She lives in a hamlet, also called Elder Grove, near the magical center of the New Forest.
Relationships
The young witch Gwendolyn lives with Winnifrid and assists her in her magic. It is unclear whether Gwendolyn is her apprentice, or a maga in her own right.
Winnifrid met James in the story, A Hero at Last (Spring 1207). He drove away a powerful mutual enemy, the Troll of the New Forest. For that, Winnifrid is grateful and will gladly return a major favor.
