James the Black is approached by Argus who through his Watcher contacts learns that evil was stirring at Tingtal Castle, one of the Six Hallows. He brought along what servants he could muster: Rhys, Gwen, and Thomas, and set forth for Cornwall. At the ruins, there worth was challenged by the four ghosts who stand vigil over the castle. James and Thomas passed the trial of combat but Rhys was knocked flat with one blow. This provoke Gwendolyn to great acts of courage and she fought valiantly earning the Ghosts approval. Entry into the Regeo was made via magic and there they discovery dragon tracks. A plot was made to ambush the dragon involving a boulder deadfall and a large magic circle to entrap the beast. Also smaller circles were cast around the perimeter to provide shelter from the beast. The beast nimbly avoided both traps and James was under grave attack from the beast when Thomas slayed the beast with what must have been a divinely influenced bowshot. The beast destroyed, the body of Baldric was taken along with the Judas money paid for betraying his masters and buried in a Christian manner so God may judge him. Much praise was given to Thomas in the telling of this adventure furthering his reputation as a God-gifted archer.

During play the magic circles cast by James kept out both the dragon and the dragon's fiery breath. Whether or not it would have without adding a requisite was questioned but it was allowed to slide. Perhaps this is where James' Common Sense virtue, along with his decent Magic Lore, would have come into effect.

James received a Pledge of Aid from the four Ghosts who guard Tingtal Castle and when his need is greatest call upon them.
